Alarma Man

Instrumental and daft in it's execution, Alarma Man can excite, sooth, and equally throw an unprepared listener into a state of confusion. Mind-numbing drum beats, steady bass lines, and odd guitar rhythms accenting with tapping that defies the nature of the sonic guitar itself. A mad mixture of dark intentions and old roving spirits that brings to mind Don Cabellero, Man Or Astroman, and Fugazi, yet with something all the more sinister and forward looking.

IMPEL, from Chula Vista, CA, was been the attempt of four guys to sustain the colors derived from their previous bands Kill Holiday and Amenity. Their sound was anywhere between the cutting edge of Clikitat Ikatowi and the soaring qualities of early Steve Lillywhite-era U2, with an appreciation for heavy rockers Quicksand and Helmet, yet with a noise not unlike Drive Like Jehu. Whoa.

The Outstand

The Outstand formed way back in 1993 in Vänersborg, Sweden. Their music was energetic rock with political lyrics. Fuzzy, noisy, harmonic, melodic, melancholic with vocals that hit you like a fist in the face. Now put to rest, members went on to form Sparks of Seven, Angry People Federation, Division of Laura Lee, and the recording studio Don Pierre in Gothenburg.

Qgmr

Transformed from the earlier noise-trio format (responsible for the album "quiet is not loud", a perfect symbiosis between raw vocals, hip-shaking bass lines, gentle guitars and pounding drums), QGMR re-emerged in 2003 as a four-piece rock-band. Complex and slinky guitars in the swamps of brain. Deeply structured and nimbly layered.

Innovative, original Gothenburg based quartet formed in 1999. The way they mix electronics, avant-garde and punk ideas in a decidedly rock-orientated format is unlike most contemporary music produced in Sweden today. A mutation of rock, electronica and punk by some real-eccentric music-makers and automobile modifiers.

Uncle operated as a band between 1995-1997, being one of the first Swedish bands to play what you could call Spazzcore. This three piece found structure in spazz and free-jazz with lots of screaming and powerful rythms. Imagine running full-speed into a brick wall for enjoyment.
